Senate passes 'hate crimes' amendment
Last night, the Senate passed an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill that criminalizes thought. The so-called "hate crimes" legislation seeks to increase criminal penalties based on a person's motive for a crime. Sen. DeMint spoke against the amendment and explained how such a policy would undermine the American principle of "equal justice" under the law.
