Feingold hesitant about Senate bid

Print Friendly
Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin) appears to be less than enthusiastic about running for the U.S. Senate just two years after he was defeated by SCF-backed businessman Ron Johnson (R-WI).

In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Feingold indicated that he would make a decision sometime between now and Labor Day.
“I am looking at it, but I feel I should take some time to think this through,” said Feingold, who served in the Senate for three terms. “For me the question right now is whether it’s a good idea for me to go back into this sort of life.”

Feingold ran one of the worst campaigns in the 2010 election cycle and was relentlessly hammered for his vote for the $787 billion, pork-filled stimulus bill that has done nothing to create jobs in Wisconsin.

Democrats in Washington will likely try to recruit their former colleague, but they might want to think twice before doing so. The track record of defeated former Senators coming back to win re-election is not a good one.
