ALEXANDRIA, VA — Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), chaired by U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), announced that it reached and exceeded its goal of raising $100,000 for Josh Mandel's U.S. Senate campaign in Ohio. In the final 72 hours before the June 30 FEC reporting deadline, SCF's online campaign raised $108,900 from over 1200 donors in all 50 states.
"The response from the grassroots to Josh Mandel's campaign is very encouraging," said Senator DeMint. "We're well over a year out from the election and folks are already engaged and eager to elect a courageous conservative in Ohio. Freedom-loving Americans across the country are supporting Josh Mandel because he is a young, hardworking leader who will fight for the principles of freedom that make America great."
Josh Mandel is the first SCF-endorsed candidate for the 2012 election cycle. If he wins the Republican primary, he will face incumbent U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) next November. Senator Brown has been in Washington for 18 years and was rated the most liberal senator in 2009 and 2010 by National Journal.
The Senate Conservatives Fund is a political action committee dedicated to electing principled conservative leaders to the United States Senate. In the 2010 election cycle, SCF raised $9.3 million and helped elect Senators Pat Toomey (R-PA), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Ron Johnson (R-WI).
