2010 Race Spotlight: CALIFORNIA

Senator Barbara Boxer (D) is up for re-election next year. Boxer scored an abysmal 2% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard and desperately needs to be challenged by a true conservative.

Boxer currently has two Republican challengers: Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R) and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R). With Boxer polling under 50%, this race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.

A new field poll released this week shows Fiorinia and DeVore locked in a virtual tie with most Republican voters still undecided. Fiornia previously had a 12-point lead over DeVore but that has vanished. The Republican primary will be held on June 8, 2010.
